Dance CurriculumGain professional qualifications in Dance
Xpression Dance Studio provides the opportunity for students to gain professional qualifications in dance through the Broken Beat Syllabus (BBDS). It is fun, stimulating and current.
The BBDS is an Australasian syllabus which incorporates strong technique with the students own personality and flavor. It offers a great foundation in dance and will allow students to develop a greater understanding of hip hop dance techniques.
The syllabus is progressive and designed to develop the co-ordination, strength, agility and hip hop style of the student. Learn the work and then sit the annual exams. But be warned... this class will lift the standard of your dance technique to extraordinary new heights!
What is BBDS?
BBDS is the Broken Beat Dance Syllabus produced and marketed by the Australasian Dance Association. The Broken Beat Dance Syllabus is committed to providing a quality syllabus, the most advanced teaching resources, as well as personal assistance and teacher support, and is the most accessible and user-friendly syllabus available. It proudly offers a Hip Hop syllabus which aims to:
a) inject enthusiasm and a passion for dance into students, and
b) provide a strong technical dance base in the dance studio.
All syllabus work is technically stimulating and provides opportunity to develop stylistic and performance qualities. It is accessible at various levels and designed to take both experienced and inexperienced dancers through the syllabus. Students improve their technique through progressive development - each grade builds up from the previous level.
There is a strong emphasis on style and personality as well as technique. There are 13 grades in total. These are designed for students to be able to access the syllabus at different ages and levels of experience.
Syllabus classes will be 1 hour in length. Lessons in term one and two are focused on preparing students for the examinations, which are held are in the third term. Professional examiners will come to your region and examine students in your studio.
Students are examined in groups of no more than eight. Report sheets and certificates are later forwarded to the teacher and awarded to students with marks ranging from Pass through to Honours. Monetary awards and certificates are presented to the top student of each grade overall. These students are recognised through publication in the BBDS newsletter.
BBDS strive to offer the best Hip Hop syllabus available in the Southern Hemisphere. We desire that students participating in the BBDS syllabus will have the ultimate Hip Hop experiences that are fun, fulfilling and ultimately fuel their passion for dance!
