Nau Mai, Haere Mai, Welcome to:Our new teachers; Megan, Helen and Amanda, they are all working as part of our current O2’s team until our new centre opens. Please feel free to introduce yourself to them J On the 2nd of March 2 more teachers; Dusana and Julia will join our current U2’s team until the new centre opens.
Outdoor Environment:Our outdoor areas are starting to take shape, it is very exciting to watch the transformation, and I am sure you will all agree that it looks beautiful! A BIG thanks to management, our dedicated staff who have given their time, energy and ideas, and all of the wonderful volunteers who have helped along the way. A special thank you to Matthew (Jacqui’s partner) who donated our stepping logs and made us an awesome log table and chair set!There is still work to be done so watch this space for more interesting transformations!
Staff News:
- Holly (U2’s) has begun study towards her 2nd year of the Diploma of Teaching & Learning
- Tracey (O2’s) has also started study again, she is finishing off her 2nd year
- Yvette and Raewyn are nearing the end of their 2nd year, and will begin year 3 study in July 09
- Megan is completing the last half of year 1 and will begin year 2 in July 09
- Helen is beginning year 1 study, and Dusana who is soon to join us is completing her last year of training and will graduate in December 09
- Congratulations to Surita who has taken over as Supervisor of our current preschool, and to Jacqui who has stepped up to the role of Assistant Supervisor. My (Nic) role is changing and I will be responsible for managing both preschools as well as working in the new O2 team to begin with.
- Congratulations to Lita who is also taking on new challenge and will be the Supervisor of the new U2’s.
New Preschool:Construction is well under way and the preschool is starting to take shape thanks to our hard working builders! We will keep you posted with an opening date in the near future…
Healthy Heart Award:We are in the process of renewing our Healthy Heart Award for 2009, along with this we has decided to do a review of our lunch box guidelines. The staff will be discussing this at our next staff meeting, look out for the opportunity to have your say. We are also supporting the Heart Foundation with heart week which runs from the 9th – 13th of February. Our Friday children are encouraged to wear red for heart day, there will also be a donation box in the office foyer for those who are able to make a contribution. This money will be sent to the New Zealand Heart Foundation. During this week the children will be learning about how to keep healthy, including exercise and nutrition. Also Al (Connor & Quinn’s Pa) who is a nurse is bringing along a model of a heart for the children to look at! Thanks Al
Children’s Belongings:We seem to have an ever growing pile of lost property, please make sure you check this regularly as unclaimed items are donated to charity. It is also really important that you NAME your entire child’s belongings including, clothing, hats, jackets, lunch boxes, bags, drink bottles etc, etc…
A Friendly Reminder:The centre opening hours are 8.30am – 4.30pm, please ensure that you stick to your child’s booked times; if you arrive early you will be asked to wait with your child until their booked time. Also we close at 4.30pm NOT 4.35pm please ensure your child is collected by this time! Late fees apply.
Donations:Thank you to those families who receive Free ECE who still make a regular donation to the centre, we are a not for profit Organisation so every little bit helps! J If you have anything at home which we may be able to use for collage or art please bring it along, we can find a home for most things!
